Moving Regional Transit Forward

There is a lot of power in elected office. That power can be used to move Michigan forward or leave it in the dust. In 2002, then Governor Engler reneged on a promise he had made regarding support of regional transportation in SE Michigan.

Fast forward to 2009 and significant progress as been made thanks to vision, collaboration and perseverance on the part of government entities, NGOs, and every day citizens who believe that a robust public transportation system is key to the revitalization of the region.

The challenge? As new bills are propsosed to move regional transit forward, continued leadership and compromise, and the state legislature play an integral role in all of this.
