DEQ Issues Questionable Sulfide Mining Permit
Despite evidence of serious environmental risk to a very rare habitat for an endangered species, and an administrative judge's ruiling of sacred tribal land, the DEQ still granted a permit for sulfide mining in the Upper Peninsula.The DEQ decision comes as a disappointment to environmental and conservation groups, as well as Upper Peninsula residents that value the pristine Yellow Dog RIver.
